We Really Don’t Need One on Every Corner

Starbucks has announced that it will close 600 stores in the United States.  Well, duh.

There are city corners with Starbucks on each side of an intersection and office building with Starbucks halfway up the tower.   And it’s not even Good Java!!!!!!!   Starbucks makes far too much coffee to use high quality bean; for the sake of consistency, they must settle for massive quantities of mediocrity (which, in tough economic times, is not worth $3+ a cup).

Starbucks Corp. has announced it’s closing 600 underperforming stores in the United States.

The Seattle-based premium coffee company also announced Tuesday it expects to open fewer than 200 new company-operated stores in the United States in fiscal 2009.

The company says it will try to place workers from closed stores in remaining Starbucks.

600 domestic Starbucks is a drop in the bucket. The franchise has been an outstanding success story from the start, hireing the otherwise unemployable teaming hoards of tatted-and pierced underacheivers that would be out vandalizing public property if they were not making bad Soy Lattes.

Soy Lattes are an Abomination. They are even more of a Why Bother than the Decaf Non-Fat version.
