The bit about the two headed boy being used as a bowling ball reminds me of the old joke about the little boy born with no legs and no arms. One day he comes home from school and tells his mom that the other kids finally let him play baseball with them. When his mom asks him what position he played, he responds “Home Plate!”
I am thrilled with McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin for his running mate. What a breath of fresh air! Here is a woman who has led an admirable American Life. Perhaps I’m romanticizing a bit, but from what I’ve seen so far, she combines self-relience, responsibility, and public service in a very difficult to attack package. The Dems are going to find it nearly impossible to sully a woman who is:
- A Self-made middle class person
- Married to a Native American who is a Union Worker
- A maverick who confronted corruption in her own party
- Mother of five, including a soldier on his way to Iraq and a baby with Down’s Syndrome
- Strong supporter of protecting the environment
- Incredibly articulate and persuasive about the need to drill for domestic oil
- Exudes good natured common sense and deceny
- Has made a huge crack in the glass ceiling which is truly Shatter Worthy
As a woman of the same generation, I haven’t ever been this excited about a political candidate. She’s a Sister!
Michael Moore has claimed that Hurricane Gustav is proof there is a God, due to its imminent collision with the planned GOP convention.
Well, perhaps he is right. Let’s contrast the preparedness and response under Republican Governor Bobby Jindal vs. that of Democrat Governor Kathleen Blanco during Hurricane Katrina:
Jindal has been on the airwaves frequently announcing plans, supporting the evacuation efforts etc. It’s clear that he and Mayor Nagin are in frequent communication (the latter is also doing a much better job this time). FEMA is in a proper support role – but the leadership is being provided by the local and state governments, as it should be. What a refreshing change from the hand-wringing and victim glorification of the Blanco era.
I can’t help but note that, judging by Michael Moore appearance, God has a bit of a twisted sense of humor.
After seeing more pics of the Temple of Obama, I’m wondering if they’ve found any virgins among the DNC delegates to sacrifice. Maybe that’s why they had to increase the capacity to 60,000.

Apparently, being President of the Citizens of the World is not enough for Obama, he has now elevated his status to God, or at least a Greek Diety complete with his own Temple.
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek temple.
The stage, similar to structures used for rock concerts, has been set up at the 50-yard-line, the midpoint of Invesco Field, the stadium where the Denver Broncos’ National Football League team plays.
Some 80,000 supporters will see Obama appear from between plywood columns painted off-white, reminiscent of Washington’s Capitol building or even the White House, to accept the party’s nomination for president.
He will stride out to a raised platform to a podium that can be raised from beneath the floor.
The show should provide a striking image for the millions of Americans watching on television as Obama delivers a speech accepting the Democratic presidential nomination.
Politicians in past elections have typically spoken from the convention site itself, but the Obama campaign liked the idea of having their man speak to a larger, stadium-sized crowd not far from where the Democratic National Convention is being held, at the Denver pro basketball arena.
Fanboy passed along a theory today that the reason Obama is having his coronation speech at Invesco was due to fears that the Hillarites would boo him off the stage at the smaller convention forum. Now that would have been Great Theater Well Worth The Price Of Admission.
Barack Obama’s campaign has engaged in a concerted effort to block the airing of an ad which questions his longstanding friendship with William Ayers of the Weather Underground. They have been successful in keeping it off some of the news networks (i.e., Fox and CNN).
Barack Obama is striking back fiercely and swiftly to stamp out an ad that links him to a 1960s radical, eager to demonstrate a far more aggressive response to attacks than John Kerry did when faced with the 2004 “Swift Boat” campaign.Obama not only aired a response ad to the spot linking him to William Ayers, but he sought to block stations the commercial by warning station managers and asking the Justice Department to intervene. The campaign also planned to compel advertisers to pressure stations that continue to air the anti-Obama commercial.
It’s the type of going-for-the-jugular approach to politics many Democrats complain that Kerry lacked and that Republicans exploit.
Obama’s target is an ad by the conservative American Issues Project, a nonprofit group that questions Obama’s ties to Ayers, a founder of the Weather Underground organization that took credit for a series of bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol four decades ago.
The lone financier of the anti-Obama ad, Texas billionaire Harold Simmons, was also one of the main funders of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth who targeted Kerry. Simmons, a McCain fundraiser, contributed nearly $2.9 million to the American Issues Project, according to documents filed by the group with the Federal Election Commission.
Fox News and CNN have declined to air the anti-Obama ad. But by Monday afternoon, the ad had run about 150 times in local markets in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia and Michigan, according to Evan Tracey, head of TNS Media Intelligence/Campaign Media Analysis Group, an ad tracking firm.
Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said Obama supporters have inundated stations that are airing the ad, many of them owned by Sinclair Communications, with 93,000 e-mails. He called the ad false, despicable and outrageous.

August 23, 2008 – In front of a cheering crowd as well as in a text message to over three million anxious supporters, U.S. Senator and prospective Democratic Party presidential nominee Barack Obama declared to the world that he had selected 1980’s pop musician Rick Astley to be his vice-presidential running mate.
“And now, America, what you’ve all been waiting to hear!” shouted the Junior Senator from the state of Illinois, as an American-flag-decorated curtain dropped behind Mr. Obama, immediately followed by the familiar opening drum beats and funk synthesizer chords of Astley’s 1987 hit single, “Never Gonna Give You Up.”
Pumping his fists downward in a striking motion as he spoke, Mr. Obama continued, “you just got Rickrolled, America!”
Billary’s plot has thickened to the point at which one can eat it with a fork.
1. Hillary suspended her campaign.
2. Hillary and Bill have engaged in lukewarm “going through the minimum motions” support for Nobama.
3. PUMA has been growling and prowling to have Hillary included in the vote.
4. Hillary and Bill have taken over the convention.
5. And now, a Hillary supporter has filed a lawsuit to keep Nobama from continuing as a candidate based upon the claim that he is not eligible to run for office because he is not a natural born citizen.
Phillip Berg, the filing attorney, is a former gubernatorial and senatorial candidate, former chair of the Democratic Party in Montgomery (PA) County, former member of the Democratic State Committee, and former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania. According to Berg, he filed the suit–just days before the DNC is to hold its nominating convention in Denver–for the health of the Democratic Party.
“I filed this action at this time,” Berg stated, “to avoid the obvious problems that will occur when the Republican Party raises these issues after Obama is nominated.”.
Berg cited a number of unanswered questions regarding the Illinois senator’s background, and in today’s lawsuit maintained that Sen. Obama is not a natural born U.S. citizen or that, if he ever was, he lost his citizenship when he was adopted in Indonesia. Berg also cites what he calls “dual loyalties” due to his citizenship and ties with Kenya and Indonesia.
Even if Sen. Obama can prove his U.S. citizenship, Berg stated, citing the senator’s use of a birth certificate from the state of Hawaii verified as a forgery by three independent document forensic experts, the issue of “multi-citizenship with responsibilities owed to and allegiance to other countries” remains on the table.
In the lawsuit, Berg states that Sen. Obama was born in Kenya, and not in Hawaii as the senator maintains. Before giving birth, according to the lawsuit, Obama’s mother traveled to Kenya with his father but was prevented from flying back to Hawaii because of the late stage of her pregnancy, “apparently a normal restriction to avoid births during a flight.” As Sen. Obama’s own paternal grandmother, half-brother and half-sister have also claimed, Berg maintains that Stanley Ann Dunham–Obama’s mother–gave birth to little Barack in Kenya and subsequently flew to Hawaii to register the birth.
Berg cites inconsistent accounts of Sen. Obama’s birth, including reports that he was born at two separate hospitals–Kapiolani Hospital and Queens Hospital–in Honolulu, as well a profound lack of birthing records for Stanley Ann Dunham, though simple “registry of birth” records for Barack Obama are available in a Hawaiian public records office.
Should Sen. Obama truly have been born in Kenya, Berg writes, the laws on the books at the time of his birth hold that U.S. citizenship may only pass to a child born overseas to a U.S. citizen parent and non-citizen parent if the former was at least 19 years of age. Sen. Obama’s mother was only 18 at the time. Therefore, because U.S. citizenship could not legally be passed on to him, Obama could not be registered as a “natural born” citizen and would therefore be ineligible to seek the presidency pursuant to Article II, Section 1 of the United States Constitution.
I can’t wait to see the usual suspects try to spin this as the machinations of a Rovian Vast Right Wing Conspiracy – while Hillary uses the confusion to seize the nomination when she “unsuspends” her campaign.
